The Middle East witnessed another dangerous escalation late Sunday night after Iran launched a barrage of ballistic missiles toward Israel, targeting the strategically important Ramat David airbase.
According to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the attack was carried out in direct response to recent Israeli strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs. Iranian officials described the missile launch as “a warning,” signaling that any further Israeli military action could trigger a much broader regional confrontation.
The IRGC warned that future retaliation would not only target Israel but could also include what it referred to as “American-Zionist targets” across the region.
Israeli military officials stated that all incoming missiles were successfully intercepted before reaching their targets. Air raid sirens reportedly sounded across several parts of the country as residents were urged to seek shelter.
The latest exchange comes amid already rising tensions in Lebanon, where Iran-backed groups and Israeli forces have been engaged in repeated cross-border hostilities. Iran had earlier accused Israel of crossing “all red lines” following strikes on Beirut’s southern districts.
Reports indicate that more than 3,500 people have been killed in Lebanon since March, highlighting the devastating humanitarian toll of the ongoing conflict.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump urged restraint from both sides and publicly called on Israel not to retaliate further.
“Each of them had their fun. We don’t need another one,” Trump said while addressing reporters. He also revealed that negotiations surrounding a final nuclear agreement with Iran are reportedly nearing completion and warned that escalating violence could jeopardize diplomatic progress.
The latest developments have intensified global concerns about a wider regional war, especially as international efforts continue to push for de-escalation and renewed diplomacy.
While both Iran and Israel have exchanged threats in recent weeks, analysts warn that continued retaliation could further destabilize the Middle East at a time when several regional conflicts remain unresolved.
Authorities and observers continue monitoring the situation closely as world leaders call for calm and restraint.
