Eid-ul-Adha Preparations Begin: Temporary Livestock Markets in Lahore to Open from May 13

As Eid-ul-Adha approaches, Lahore is gearing up to make sacrificial animal buying easier, safer, and more organized for citizens.

The Punjab Cattle Market Management Company (PCMMDC) has announced that temporary livestock markets across the city will officially become operational from May 13. These dedicated sale points aim to provide residents with convenient access to sacrificial animals while ensuring proper facilities and security arrangements.

Alongside these temporary setups, Shahpur Kanjran Livestock Market will continue to function as Lahore’s permanent model livestock market.

Five Temporary Sale Points Across Lahore

According to officials, five temporary livestock sale points will be established at major locations across the city:

  • Sagian Livestock Sale Point — 25 acres
  • Wagah Sports Complex Sale Point — 50 acres
  • Barki Road Sale Point — 20 acres
  • LDA City Sale Point — 65 acres
  • Raiwind Livestock Sale Point — 25 acres

These locations have been selected to help reduce overcrowding and make animal purchasing more accessible for residents in different parts of Lahore.

Better Facilities for Citizens

To improve the buying and selling experience, PCMMDC says each temporary market will be equipped with essential facilities including:

  • Tents for shade
  • Water supply
  • Awareness flexes and public guidance materials

The goal is to create a cleaner, safer, and more comfortable environment for both buyers and sellers during the busy Eid season.

Security and Emergency Services in Place

Authorities are also focusing heavily on safety and public convenience.

Punjab Police and Para Force personnel will be deployed to maintain security at all livestock markets. In addition, the Health Department and Rescue 1122 teams will remain on duty to handle medical needs and emergencies.

The Livestock Department and other relevant government departments will also participate in the arrangements to ensure smooth operations throughout the Eid-ul-Adha season.

With thousands of families preparing for Qurbani, these organized temporary livestock markets are expected to make the annual tradition more manageable and hassle-free for Lahoris.
