Government Extends Goodwill Gesture: Offer to Shift Imran Khan to Bani Gala Residence.
In a move seen as a gesture of political goodwill, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry announced that the government is open to shifting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan from Adiala Jail to his Bani Gala residence—if a formal request is made by his party.
Speaking on a talk show, the minister emphasized that there are no restrictions on Mr. Khan’s meetings with his family and legal team, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring the former prime minister’s basic rights. “If PTI applies for his relocation, we’re ready to facilitate it,” he said. “He can meet political colleagues, engage in discussions, or even enjoy leisure activities. Our goal is to maintain a humane and respectful approach.”
The proposal marks a rare moment of conciliatory tone in Pakistan’s political atmosphere, with the government indicating a willingness to ease tensions and uphold democratic norms.
PTI leader Asad Qaiser responded positively, saying the offer could be considered if the government demonstrates seriousness in following through. “If there’s genuine intent, the party and our legal team will review the proposal in consultation with Imran Khan,” he said.
Observers see the offer as a symbolic step toward promoting dialogue and political stability. Many hope it can pave the way for a more cooperative environment where political differences are handled with mutual respect and civility.
