Edible Oil Truck Worth Rs. 20 Million Hijacked on M9 Motorway Near Jamshoro

A major highway robbery on the M9 Motorway has raised fresh concerns about transport security in Sindh after seven armed robbers allegedly intercepted and stole a truck carrying edible oil worth nearly Rs. 20 million.

According to initial reports, the truck was travelling from Karachi Port to Sialkot when it was stopped near the Commander City housing scheme in Jamshoro District. The suspects were reportedly travelling in a double-cabin vehicle and forced the truck to stop on the motorway.

The driver, identified as Falak Sher, and the cleaner, Ashraf, were allegedly blindfolded, tied up, and later abandoned in a remote area by the robbers.

Fortunately, both men were later found safe, but the truck loaded with edible oil remains missing.

Transport manager Sajid Jameel filed a First Information Report (FIR) at Nooriabad police station, prompting an official investigation into the incident.

Police are now looking into the highway robbery that took place within the Nooriabad jurisdiction, while transporters and logistics operators have expressed concern over the safety of cargo movement on one of Sindh’s busiest motorway routes.

The M9 Motorway serves as a critical trade link between Karachi and the rest of the country, and incidents like this highlight the need for stronger surveillance, improved patrolling, and faster emergency response systems.

Authorities have yet to confirm whether the suspects have been identified or if the stolen vehicle has been traced.

As investigations continue, the incident serves as a reminder of the growing need for stronger security measures for commercial transport across major highways in Pakistan.
