In what many are calling nothing short of a miracle, a miner trapped deep inside a marble quarry in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Mardan district has been rescued alive after 17 long days.
The incident took place on March 31 in the Nang Abad area of Rustam tehsil, where a sudden landslide struck a marble mine, burying several workers under heavy rocks and debris. The tragic collapse initially claimed the lives of eight miners, while two others were pulled out alive in the early rescue efforts.
But the story didn’t end there.
A Hope That Refused to Fade
For over two weeks, rescue teams continued their relentless search operation, using heavy machinery to dig through layers of marble and rubble. Among the missing was a worker named Abdul Wahab.
As days passed, hope began to fade. According to fellow miner Najeebullah, who spoke to BBC News, the workers had even performed Abdul Wahab’s funeral prayers, believing he had not survived.
“We had been searching for our colleague for 17 days. We even offered his funeral prayers… but today, he was found alive in the marble mine,” Najeebullah shared.
The Moment That Changed Everything
Against all odds, rescue officials finally located and safely pulled Abdul Wahab out from beneath the debris—alive. His survival has left both rescue workers and the local community in disbelief and relief.
Officials credited the continuous rescue efforts and determination of the teams who refused to give up, even when the chances seemed slim.
A Story of Resilience and Faith
This extraordinary rescue has quickly become a symbol of resilience, faith, and the power of persistence. While the tragedy of lost lives remains deeply felt, Abdul Wahab’s survival has brought a rare moment of hope and unity to the region.
Stories like these remind us that even in the darkest moments, hope can endure—and sometimes, miracles do happen.
