Pakistan Launches Modern Passport with Enhanced Security and Inclusive Design
ISLAMABAD: In a forward-looking step towards modernization and inclusivity, Pakistan’s Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has unveiled a refreshed passport design featuring advanced security measures and updated visuals that celebrate the country’s cultural heritage.
The newly redesigned passport now includes the mother’s name alongside the father’s name, ensuring greater identification accuracy and inclusivity — a move hailed as a milestone in official documentation standards.
While the core structure of the passport remains the same, the visa pages will now feature stunning images of landmarks representing all provinces of Pakistan, showcasing the country’s unity, culture, and scenic beauty.
According to DGIP, these updates aim to make the Pakistani passport both more secure and globally recognizable, aligning it with modern international standards. The new document will help curb forgery, simplify verification abroad, and reinforce Pakistan’s identity through design innovation.
The Ministry of Interior has given formal approval for the redesigned passport, which blends modern aesthetics with cultural representation. Officials confirmed that printing will commence soon after technical preparations are complete.
The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to digital transformation, inclusivity, and global mobility for citizens — ensuring that Pakistan’s identity documents remain at par with international best practices
