Pakistan Reaffirms Support for Palestine, Calls for Global Action Against Illegal West Bank Annexation
ISLAMABAD — Pakistan reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause on Thursday, strongly condemning Israel’s attempt to extend its “so-called sovereignty” over parts of the occupied West Bank through a draft law recently introduced in the Israeli parliament.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the move as a clear violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions, calling it a “provocative and unlawful act” that threatens regional peace and stability.
Islamabad urged the international community to take immediate and concrete steps to halt the annexation plan and hold the occupying forces accountable for continued violations of human rights and international norms.
Reiterating Pakistan’s long-standing position, the statement emphasized that the country stands in firm solidarity with the Palestinian people in their just struggle for freedom and statehood. Pakistan continues to support the establishment of an independent, viable, and contiguous State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
The move by Israel’s Knesset to advance bills aimed at annexing parts of the West Bank has been widely rejected internationally. Regional actors, including Jordan and the Palestinian Foreign Ministry, have called the action a blatant breach of international law and a serious setback to peace efforts.
Pakistan’s response underscores its consistent advocacy for global justice, peace, and the protection of human rights. As part of its diplomatic outreach, Islamabad remains actively engaged with regional and global partners to ensure lasting peace in the Middle East.
