Pakistan Gains Global Backing for Iran–US Mediation as Kuwait, China Step Forward

Pakistan’s growing role as a peacemaker on the global stage just received a major boost.

In a positive diplomatic development, Kuwait and China have openly endorsed Pakistan’s efforts to mediate between Iran and the United States, reinforcing Islamabad’s emerging position as a key bridge-builder during one of the world’s most tense geopolitical moments.

A Vote of Confidence from Key Allies

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently held a high-level conversation with Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al Khaled Al Hamad Al Sabah, where Pakistan’s peace efforts were fully backed and appreciated.

Kuwait praised Pakistan’s leadership and expressed confidence in its diplomatic push to ease tensions in the Middle East.

At the same time, China also signaled strong support for Pakistan’s mediation role highlighting the importance of dialogue to restore stability, particularly around critical global trade routes like the Strait of Hormuz.

Pakistan’s Rising Diplomatic Moment

This backing comes at a crucial time. The ongoing Iran–US conflict intensified by recent military escalations has created global uncertainty, disrupted energy markets, and raised humanitarian concerns.

Amid this, Pakistan has stepped forward as a rare country maintaining working relations with both Tehran and Washington. This unique position allows Islamabad to act as a trusted intermediary, facilitating indirect talks and relaying proposals between both sides.

There are even reports that Pakistan could host high-level peace talks if both sides agree an opportunity that could further elevate its global diplomatic standing.

Behind-the-Scenes Diplomacy

Pakistan’s mediation efforts are not limited to public statements. Behind the scenes, civil and military leadership including Army Chief General Asim Munir have been actively engaged in quiet diplomacy to push for de-escalation.

This multi-layered approach reflects Pakistan’s broader strategy: staying neutral, encouraging dialogue, and avoiding escalation while safeguarding regional stability and its own economic interests.

A Moment of Opportunity

With global powers now backing its role, Pakistan finds itself at the center of a critical diplomatic window.

While challenges remain and tensions are still high, this growing international support signals something hopeful:
dialogue is still possible and Pakistan is helping lead the way.
