Pakistan Welcomes Chinese Investment in Maritime & Industrial Sectors

ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed his government’s full support for the establishment of Special Economic Zones (SEZs), highlighting Pakistan’s commitment to creating an investor-friendly environment for global partners.

Speaking to a visiting delegation of China’s Shandong Xinxu Group Corporation, led by Chairman Hou Jianxin, the Prime Minister invited Chinese industries to expand operations in Pakistan, noting that Islamabad is keen to elevate its economic partnership with Beijing to new heights.

He underlined Pakistan’s strong potential in shipbreaking, ship recycling, and maritime industries, as well as promising opportunities in fishing, fish processing, and date processing. The Prime Minister assured that the government will provide every possible facilitation to ensure smooth investment and business operations.

During the meeting, the delegation expressed keen interest in setting up a green shipbreaking yard and a maritime industrial complex in Pakistan—an initiative that would create jobs, promote sustainable industrial practices, and strengthen Pakistan’s role in the global maritime sector.

Chairman Hou Jianxin thanked the Prime Minister for the government’s proactive support, saying Pakistan offers significant opportunities for Shandong’s future projects.

The meeting was also attended by Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, Advisor to the Prime Minister Touqeer Shah, and senior officials, underscoring the importance Pakistan attaches to boosting economic collaboration with China.
