Army Steps Up for KP Flood Victims

Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has directed immediate deployment of army support to assist flood-affected communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, pledging “full assistance to restore normal life.”

Army units already present in the province have expanded relief operations, while additional contingents have been sent to reinforce rescue and recovery efforts. In a strong gesture of solidarity, all army personnel have donated one day’s salary, and over 600 tons of rations have been allocated for distribution to affected families.

Relief teams are actively delivering food, shelter, and medical care, while the Corps of Engineers accelerates repair work on damaged infrastructure. Temporary bridges are being constructed to reconnect cut-off villages, and specialised rescue teams — including sniffer dog units and urban search crews — are working round the clock to locate missing individuals.

Army Aviation helicopters have also joined the mission, airlifting supplies and evacuating people stranded in remote flood-hit zones. The helicopters are further assisting with technical and logistical support in hard-to-reach areas.

Earlier, soldiers carried out life-saving rescues across the province. In one heartwarming scene from Swat, a soldier carried a schoolchild on his back to safety — a reminder of the Pakistan Army’s commitment to stand by the people in every crisis.

Military sources reaffirmed that the Pakistan Army remains “shoulder to shoulder with the nation,” serving not only as a defender in times of conflict but also as a force of relief, compassion, and resilience in natural disasters.
