Punjab is preparing to take to the skies with its own provincial airline — Air Punjab.
The initiative marks a major step forward in enhancing regional connectivity, boosting tourism, and strengthening the province’s economic infrastructure.
According to officials, the working committee overseeing the project has submitted a request for Rs. 1 billion in funding to the finance department to kickstart the airline’s operations. The proposal has received positive feedback, and final budget approvals are expected soon.
The Punjab government has already greenlit the Air Punjab project, which aims to provide affordable, efficient, and safe air travel options within Pakistan and, later, to regional destinations.
As per reports, the provincial administration plans to lease five modern aircraft, with discussions underway with several aviation companies. Once operational, Air Punjab is expected to generate employment opportunities, enhance trade, and bring the province closer to global aviation standards.
This project symbolizes a forward-looking vision for Punjab — one that combines innovation, infrastructure, and inclusive development.
