Pakistan Reaffirms Deep Ties with Saudi Arabia on Kingdom’s 95th National Day

KARACHI — Pakistan has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to its strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia as the Kingdom celebrates its 95th National Day. A special ceremony in Islamabad is planned to mark this occasion.

The historic ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia span religious, cultural, diplomatic and strategic realms — especially in trade and defense. Over two million Pakistanis live and work in Saudi Arabia, contributing significantly through remittances.

This year’s celebration carries added significance, coming just after the signing of the Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement between the two countries. The pact, formalized during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s state visit, states that any act of aggression against one partner will be considered an attack on both, reinforcing joint deterrence and enhanced military cooperation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended warm congratulations to King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, applauding Saudi leadership for steering the Kingdom toward progress and global recognition. He paid tribute to the deep brotherhood between the two countries, especially valuing Saudi Arabia’s economic cooperation which has been instrumental in strengthening Pakistan’s economic stability.

In diplomatic gestures of friendship, Islamabad is adorned with Saudi flags, images of the Saudi Crown Prince, and green lighting mirroring the Saudi colors. A grand event is set for the Convention Center, marking the National Day in the capital with high-level officials and distinguished guests in attendance.

President Asif Ali Zardari also sent felicitations on behalf of the nation, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s journey of remarkable progress and stability under its visionary leadership. He emphasised that the new defense pact is a milestone that strengthens regional peace and underscores the deep bond rooted in shared faith, culture, and mutual support.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah echoed these sentiments, recognizing Saudi Arabia’s achievements and promising that the recent cooperation will lead to more robust collaboration for prosperity and security.
