Pakistan Honours Its Heroes on 60th Defence Day with Unity, Pride, and Resolve
On the solemn occasion of 60 years since the landmark September 6, 1965 Defence Day, Pakistan united in soulful reflection and renewed commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty. Military leadership across the Army, Navy, Air Force, and the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee paid heartfelt tribute to the country’s martyrs, ghazis, and their families, reaffirming their pledge to protect the nation with unwavering vigilance.
The day began with ceremonial grandeur—a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and solemn guard-change ceremonies, including one at Mazar-e-Quaid. Air Vice Marshal Shehryar Khan, among the distinguished guests, invoked the heroic spirit of 1965, saying, “If it was 6-0 then, next time, by God’s grace, it will be 60-0.”
ISPR’s message encapsulated the spirit of the day: “September 6, 1965, epitomises the unflinching resolve and unshakeable spirit of the Pakistani nation. A united nation can never be defeated.”
The armed forces also highlighted their dual role in peace—pledging continued, humble support for citizens facing natural disasters, especially ongoing flood relief efforts—while standing ever ready to defend national interests.
This Defence Day, the nation stood together—grateful, resilient, and resolute—honouring the past and safeguarding the future.
