Strategic Dialogue Elevates Pak-China Ties

ISLAMABAD – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is set to arrive in Pakistan on August 20–21 for a high-level Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue, marking a renewed commitment to mutual cooperation and regional stability.

Fresh off a diplomatic tour in New Delhi, Wang Yi will engage with Pakistan’s civilian and military leadership under a packed agenda—including review of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), defense collaboration, economic initiatives, and regional security.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will lead Pakistan’s delegation, with bilateral meetings also expected with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari.

This visit comes at a pivotal moment—post the May India-Pakistan conflict and amid evolving dynamics in South Asia, including growing engagement between Pakistan and the United States.

Beyond reaffirming “iron-clad” friendship, the talks will pave the way for finalizing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s attendance at the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin later this month.
