Punjab is taking a major step toward supporting working women and families with a large-scale childcare initiative announced by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
Under a Rs. 1 billion program, the province plans to establish 650 daycare centres by the next fiscal year, creating safer and more accessible childcare facilities across Punjab.
According to official details, 350 daycare centres are already operational, while another 40 facilities are nearing completion. The remaining centres will gradually be developed in hospitals, schools, government offices, Daanish schools, and other major public institutions.
The initiative is designed to help working mothers balance professional and family responsibilities by providing secure childcare spaces equipped with trained caregivers, educational materials, and child-friendly learning environments.
Special attention is also being given to south Punjab and remote districts, ensuring childcare support reaches underserved communities where such facilities are often limited.
To maintain quality and transparency, authorities have introduced monitoring systems aimed at ensuring proper management and consistent care standards across all centres.
