In a heartwarming and emotional turn of events, a bride in China woke up from a three-month coma just two days before her wedding, giving her family and fiancé a renewed sense of hope.
The 24-year-old woman, Wang Ranran, from Tai’an city in Shandong province, had been in a relationship with her fiancé, Zhang Zirui, for six years. The couple had been excitedly preparing for their wedding scheduled for April 25 and had even finalized their wedding venue.
But what began as a simple sore throat turned into a life-changing medical tragedy.
A Simple Injection Changed Everything
In January, Wang felt irritation in her throat and assumed it was just a common cold. She visited a nearby clinic where two doctors were on duty.
After a brief check-up, she was prescribed medicine and given an injection.
According to her fiancé, the doctors never asked whether Wang had any allergies to medication, nor did they perform a skin test before administering the injection.
Just minutes after receiving it, Wang’s condition rapidly worsened. Her tongue went numb, she began vomiting, and she struggled to breathe.
An ambulance was called, but by the time paramedics arrived, she had already gone into severe shock.
Medical Negligence Made the Situation Worse
At the hospital, doctors initially diagnosed her with severe acidosis, likely caused by allergic shock.
Despite treatment, her brain was deprived of oxygen for more than four minutes, resulting in irreversible brain damage and leaving her in a coma.
Zhang said the clinic staff panicked during the emergency and failed to provide effective first aid.
Later investigations revealed that the woman who administered the injection was not medically qualified, and the person who prescribed the medication was not legally licensed to practice medicine.
Legal Action and Rising Medical Costs
Zhang filed a complaint against the clinic for medical negligence and sought legal assistance.
By April, the clinic had shut down. The woman who gave the injection reportedly paid Wang’s family 200,000 yuan (around $30,000) in compensation before disappearing.
Meanwhile, Wang’s medical expenses have already exceeded 700,000 yuan (approximately $100,000).
Hope Returns After 92 Days
After spending 92 days in a coma, Wang finally showed signs of waking up.
On April 23, she opened her eyes for the first time and smiled when she saw her fiancé standing beside her.
That moment became a symbol of hope, love, and resilience for the entire family.
Although she is still unable to speak or move, her recovery has brought fresh optimism to everyone around her.
Zhang says he will continue to stand by her side and support her journey toward full recovery.
This story is not just about love—it is also a reminder of the importance of medical responsibility, caution, and the incredible power of hope.
